Dancing through time

Saratoga has actually had a very prominent role in the history of Dance in America. And while the Saratoga Performing Arts Center may be the most visible to casual observers who mainly know of SPACís role as the summer home of the New York City Ballet. On June 13th, the Dance Museum held a dance program to help remind everyone that Saratoga has been a big part of Modern Dance from itís earliest days in the early 20th century.

One interesting anecdote: Two of the most internationally famous dancers pioneering the earliest forms of Modern Dance, Ted Shawn and Ruth St Denis were married in Saratoga Springs, honeymooned in Saratoga Springs, and of course performed in Saratoga Springs.
